What is Style?

Truth be told, I’m not quite certain what is meant by style in this context. I will interpret it, however, as writing style. To me, writing style is the individual voice of a writer. Just as in speaking, there are certain patterns in a person’s writing that can be spotted if you look hard enough. This would be that person’s style of writing. Style includes grammar usage, word choices, and paragraph structure. Depending on different genres, it can also include various forms of symbolism, and metaphors a certain writer like to go back to often, or a penchant for doing something like introducing and then immediately removing a character. Themes that are used and not used, seldom recurring themes or often used themes are another element of style, in my estimation.
